Addressing
real-life social challenges for teenagers in a day of
Facebook, Skype, texting, video games and other distractions
that have isolated them from developing traditional social
skills.
It is not uncommon for students in this day and age to
come home from school and sequester themselves, to box
themselves in their rooms with "social networking" websites,
video games (played with anonymous opponents anywhere in the
world) or any other number of "distractions."
In the end, they find that they have been distracted from
developing actual face-to-face social interaction, or from
benefiting from other experiences that would assist them
when the need to face realities presents itself.
-
Many parents as well as professionals find themselves faced
with issues unique to this day and age, that if not managed
skillfully could inhibit their children in a serious manner
as the look the future.
