What is it ???

How did I get it ???

What do I do about it ???

Substance abuse is a disorder.  People utilize substances, such as drugs, alcohol and tobacco.  The use of substances can affect their quality of life and can interfere with their daily living skills.  People who abuse substances do it for various, and most times, complicated reasons.  The toll for this abuse is taken on our families, employment, relationships, and even the basic communication needed for daily functioning.

There is a genetic link to substance abuse, but in many cases it is in response to some type of trauma in one’s life.  Teenagers are known to experiment with substances.  It is when it becomes their main focus that there is a cause for concern.  To answer the question "How did I get it?" is very difficult; with Coaching and support you might just find the answers.

Do the research.  There are many resources available to help you decide if you may struggle with this disorder.  Check them out, then seek a professional to help sort it all out.  If you're serious about getting and staying clean there is hope.
